When The Weather Cools Down, It's Time To Jig

Jig fishing is one of those skills that really starts to become important as the weather starts to cool down. Bass, especially large mouth bass, are typically a warm weather fish. They dramatically reduce their activity levels as the weather cools.

This means if you want to get at the fish, you need to slow down as well. That's why jig fishing is so important. When it's time to slow down and start jigging, one of my favorite lures is the Dirty Jigs Finesse Swim Jig.

More Versatility

A swim jig is going to give you more versatility in your fishing than a traditional jig. They are designed to stay horizontal, as opposed to a traditional jig that drops straight down.

This difference gives you more options when you are performing your retrieves. You can change speeds easier, and you can vary those speeds throughout the water column. If you are fishing with a traditional jig, this is not possible.

Colors And Design

The Finesse jig from Dirty Jigs uses a 50 strand skirt, and is available in tons of different colors to help you mimic the style of bait fish in your local lake.

The jig is available in three different sizes—1/4, 5/16, and 3/8 ounce weights. I tend to stick to the 3/8, but that is just what works best for me in the lakes that I frequently fish. Having three different sizing options will allow you to choose what's best for you and your situation.

I usually customize my jigs a bit, but with the Finesse jig, I find that this is not necessary at all. It's ready to go, and catch fish, right out of the box! Get this one in your tackle box for the colder months that are ahead of us!
